The ‘cure for cancer’ debate is often nixed by the notion that cancer is not a single disease, thereby belying visions of a single cure. But vaccines and public health reform obliterated most infectious disease, which is a similarly non-singular biomedical category. Perhaps the approach to cancer could be different after all.
